Welcome to Innovation in Medicine and Healthcare 2013!

The KES International Conference on Innovation in Medicine and Healthcare (InMed-13) will gather a multi-disciplinary group consisting of researchers and engineers, managers, students and practitioners from the medical arena, to discuss the ways that innovation, knowledge exchange and enterprise can be applied to issues relating to medicine, surgery, healthcare and the issues of an ageing population.

A central feature of the conference will be a Workshop on Smart Medical and Healthcare Systems which will cover the ways in which modern intelligent systems contribute to the solution of problems faced by healthcare and medical practitioners today, addressing the application of these systems through all of the key themes of this year's conference.

Call for Papers

High quality papers are requested within the scope of the conference. Full papers will be peer reviewed, and if accepted, presented and appear in the proceedings. Alternatively, authors may choose to submit a short paper, which will be presented but will not appear in the proceedings.

Call Proposals for Invited Sessions and Workshops

An Invited Session consists of a presentation session of six papers on a specific conference topic, organised as a mini-conference. We invite senior researchers or managers who have a special interest in a specific conference topic to to take responsibility for a special session, gathering papers from colleagues and managing the review process. We also invite proposals for workshops and other activities that will be of interest to delegates.

The Location

The 2013 International Conference on Innovation in Medicine and Healthcare will be held in Piraeus, Greece. Piraeus is a city close to Athens, with its many ancient monuments such as the Parthenon, the temple at the heart of the Athenian Acropolis, as well as the bustling tourist haven The Plaka which features unique shops, bars, cafes and restaurants.

Piraeus is the main port of Athens which provides easy access to the beautiful Greek Islands with their sandy beaches, sun and sea. Piraeus is a wonderful destination with significant archaeological sites and vibrant, contemporary finds, as well as being a fantastic base from which to explore the treasure Greece holds.The conference will feature a Workshop on Smart Medical and Healthcare Technologies which will cover the ways in which modern intelligent systems contribute to the solution of problems faced by healthcare and medical practitioners today, addressing the application of these systems through all of the key themes of this year’s conference.
